LEADERSHIP STYLES

Did you know the leader have 5 style?

Bureaucratic
~ This style of leadership follows a close set of standards. Everything is done in an exact, specific way to ensure safety and/or accuracy. You will often find this leadership role in a situation where the work environment is dangerous and specific sets of procedures are necessary to ensure safety.

Autocratic
~ One person has control over all of the workers or followers. The leader is in complete control and no one is permitted to make any suggestions or offer any opinions, no matter how it may benefit the group.

Democratic
~ This style of leadership follows a close set of standards. Everything is done in an exact, specific way to ensure safety and/or accuracy. You will often find this leadership role in a situation where the work environment is dangerous and specific sets of procedures are necessary to ensure safety. Under democratic leadership, the people have a more participatory role in the decision making process. One person retains final say over all decisions but allows others to share insight and ideas.

Laissez-faire
~ The laissez-faire leadership style is also known as the “hands-off¨ style. It is one in which the manager provides little or no direction and gives employees as much freedom as possible. All authority or power is given to the employees and they must determine goals, make decisions, and resolve problems on their own.

Islamic
~ Leadership is a trust (amanah) and the job of the leader is to discharge this responsibility to the best of his abilities.

so, what is your style of leader?

Sustainable engineering.

The definiton of sustainable engineering:

Sustainability, in a broad sense is the ability to maintain a certain process or state. It is now most frequently used in connection with biological and human systems. In an ecological context, sustainability can be defined as the ability of an ecosystem to maintain ecological processes, functions, biodiversity and productivity into the future.

Sustainability has become a complex term that can be applied to almost every
facet of life on Earth, particularly the many different levels of biological organization, such as; wetlands, prairies and forests and is expressed in human organization concepts, such as; eco-municipalities, sustainable cities, and human activities and disciplines, such as; sustainable agriculture, sustainable architecture and renewable energy.[citation needed] Many sustainable practices are being identified as "green" initiatives.

For humans to live sustainably, the Earth's resources must be used at a rate at which they can be replenished. However, there is now clear scientific evidence that humanity is living unsustainably, and that an unprecedented collective effort is needed to return human use of natural resources to within sustainable limits.

Since the 1980s, the idea of human sustainability has become increasingly associated with the integration of economic, social and environmental spheres. In 1989, the World Commission on Environment and Development (Brundtland Commission) articulated what has now become a widely accepted definition of sustainability: "[to meet] the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

What is professional engineering?

Definition of professional Engineering

For the general definition:
Professional Engineering is the discipline and profession of applying technical and scientific knowledge and utilizing natural laws and physical resources to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems, and processes that safely realize a desired objective and meet specified criteria.

~ Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is a board that accredite engineering bachelor’s degree programme in United States

~ The American Engineers' Council for Professional Development (ECPD), the predecessor of ABET has defined engineering as follows:
“[T]he creative application of scientific principles to design or develop structures, machines, apparatus, or manufacturing processes, or works utilizing them singly or in combination; or to construct or operate the same with full cognizance of their design; or to forecast their behavior under specific operating conditions; all as respects an intended function, economics of operation and safety to life and property.”

~Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) is entrusted by Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) to accredite all engineering Bachelor’s programme in Malaysia.
EAC defined engineering as “that an engineer is to create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering tools, including prediction and modeling, to complex engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations”.
